Rare miniature white glazed ceramic pot, produced to hold a sample of the famous Scottish marmalade by James Keiller & Sons. The black marking within a vegetal medallion celebrates the brand’s distinctions: « Only Prize Medal for Marmalade – London 1862 » and « Grand Medal of Merit – Vienna 1873 ». Its surface shows a beautiful network of crackles typical of antique stoneware, with a flat base and a slightly rolled rim. This type of pot, highly sought after by collectors, illustrates the British industrial expertise in the art of food preservation.
