Plate from the House Painter's Library , depicting the complete alphabet of the "Little Roman Monster Shaded" typeface. Designed by A. Botzum and published by E. Thézard Fils in Dourdan around 1900, this lithograph illustrates a high-contrast sign lettering, typical of shop windows and advertising panels of the Belle Époque. The red letters on a black background, subtly shaded, create a particularly striking relief effect, characteristic of the typefaces used to attract attention in shops and workshops.
