A superb plate from the "Attributes au pochoir" series published by Raymond Bilard in Le Mans around 1900. Hand-painted using the stencil technique, it illustrates a sign design for a delicatessen, cured meats, grocery store, and poultry and game shop , adorned with floral garlands, hunting trophies, and hanging birds. The typographic letters with their tricolor shading, typical of Belle Époque shopfronts, demonstrate the graphic refinement of sign painters at the turn of the century.
