An elegant lithographed plate from the Bibliothèque du Peintre en Bâtiment – Nouveaux Modèles de Lettres ( Building Painter's Library – New Letter Templates) by A. Botzum, published by E. Thézard Fils in Dourdan (Seine-et-Oise). The design depicts a parchment suspended from a pin, shaded against a deep green background, bearing the inscription "Enseignes en tous genres – Rue Fontaine – 14 Paris" (Signs of all kinds – 14 Rue Fontaine – Paris). This interplay of three-dimensional effects perfectly illustrates the refinement of decorative typography during the Belle Époque.
