Published at the turn of the century by Raymond Bilard, a publisher in Le Mans, this instructional work is one of the most accomplished devoted to decorative typography and shop signs of the Belle Époque. Each richly colored plate illustrates the typical shop windows of the trades of the time – pharmacy, butcher shop, bookstore, haberdashery, etc. Rare in complete condition, with the original binding ties and an illustrated cover emblematic of the handcrafted spirit of the painted decoration.
