Antique optometric chart for children

Antique optometric chart for children

0,00 € Déjà adopté

An antique optometric chart for children's eye examinations, published by Optrex Laboratories. This type of teaching chart was used in ophthalmology and optician practices, as well as in school medical services, to measure visual acuity at a distance. The lines feature simple and recognizable pictograms (rabbit, car, fish, saucepan, boat, rocking horse, etc.) allowing children to identify the symbols rather than read letters. The indication "d = 5 meters" specifies the standard reading distance. The numerical graduations and colored markers correspond to the different levels of visual acuity tested during the examination. The chart is mounted on rigid cardboard with a black border, typical of educational medical materials distributed in the second half of the 20th century.

✦ Origin: France
✦ Estimated period: Circa 1950-1960
✦ Dimensions: 68 x 26 cm
✦ Material: printed cardboard
✦ Condition: Good overall condition with signs of use, slight handling marks, and minor wear on the corners

An antique optometric chart with minimalist graphics very characteristic of mid-20th century school and hospital medical equipment, interesting as much for a collection of scientific equipment as for an original wall decoration.
