An old eye examination chart for distance visual acuity testing, consisting of several cardboard boards connected by metal fasteners and suspended by a chain. This model features lines of decreasing letters used to measure distance reading ability according to different visual acuity values. The marking "D: 3 m" indicates the recommended examination distance. This type of optometric chart, called an "ELLA," was used in ophthalmology and optician practices, as well as in school health services, for vision screening tests. The hinged boards allow for quick adjustments to the line arrangement during the examination.
