Pair of typical late 19th century boxes with floral decoration and ribboned typography, mentioning 144 Metal Pens – Made in France . These models were used by French pen nibs manufacturers (often J. Herbin, Blanzy-Poure or Gilbert & Blanzy-Poure) for wholesale to schools and administrations.
One, with a light, almost mint green background, bears the monogram H inscribed in a medallion; the other, older, displays a patinated sea-green decoration, slightly oxidized on one corner, indicating manufacture in the 1880s–1890s. Both are empty but complete, with hinges and bases intact. ✦ Provenance: France
