Plate from the series "Models of Alphabets of Letters & Signs" published in Paris by L. Labbé , presenting a complete alphabet in the ornamental style known as " Modern ," typical of the late 19th century. Each character is drawn in black ink enhanced with red and green, highlighting the thick and thin strokes characteristic of painted signs and advertising typography of the period.

These plates were intended for sign painters, lithographers and sign decorators, serving as models for the creation of decorative alphabets on shop windows, panels or posters.
