An antique black and white ceramic jar , originally intended for jams sold under the famous " Félix Potin " brand. The decoration features a double vignette framed by scrolling foliage, depicting on one side the "steam factory" located at 9 rue Saint-Denis in La Villette, and on the other the "shop" at 103 boulevard de Sébastopol in Paris. This image reflects the brand's industrial and commercial development at the end of the 19th century. The boulevard Sébastopol address allows for precise dating of this piece: Félix Potin opened this iconic shop there in 1899, before moving to number 101 in 1904. This jar therefore dates from the period 1899–1904. A valuable piece of historical evidence of mass retail in France.
